Welcome to the NEW ClubHypoxia.com!

Club Hypoxia was formed December 31st, 2004 by some friends who had met through bikejournal.com. The club has a physical presence in the Front Range cities of Colorado, but our virtual presence extends across all bicycling communities.

New Club Hypoxia/Hypoxiettes branded clothing designs? sticky icon

There has been much discussion over the past year about removing the bikejournal.com logo from Club Hypoxia/Hypoxiettes branded items. In support of this, I have emailed our designer Dan Dunn, to see how difficult this process would be.

It would be good to have the new design completed prior to the next clothing order. I am wondering if we may want to have a completely redesigned kit for 2009, the 5th anniversary year of Club Hypoxia, or just stick with the current design minus the bikejournal logos.

I am posting new polls asking these two questions.

Please share your thoughts in this thread.

RMCC 1-2-3 Challenge - 300k

Saturday, May 23, was the third and final leg of the RMCC 1-2-3 challenge series – the 300k race from Littleton to Elbert and back.  I’ve got to say it’s one of the toughest rides I’ve ever done at 187 miles with 10,000 feet of climbing.  It reminded me a lot of the Hypoxia Tour of Parker, except that it has twice the climbing, and it’s over twice as long.  So to put it in perspective, imaging finishing the Tour of Parker, then turning around and riding it again!&nbs

RMCC 1-2-3 Challenge - 200k

The 200k leg of the RMCC 1-2-3 challenge is finally in the books!  The ride was supposed to happen on May 2, but the forecast called for chilly temps and rain all day so it was pushed to Sunday the 10th, and again chilly temps with rain and wind forced another postponement at the starting line.  Finally May 16 proved that the third time’s a charm, and in spite of some overnight rain and cloudy skies at the start the ride went off.

Panguitch – Cedar City

The climbing began abruptly right at the south edge of Panguitch, no time to warm up, just right into an 8% grade.  There had been a four-person team parked at the time station in Panguitch and they caught up and passed me early in the climb.  At least the sunshine and the climbing were helping warm me up after the chilly riding of the last few hours, and it wasn’t long before the van passed, giving me a couple honks of the horn to let me know we’d make an exchange soon.

May is Here! An Overview...

Considering all the freak snowstorms and windy days we received, April was a success for Club Hypoxia! The two big rides -- GlassCat's South Side Social Ride and my own Stove Prairie Trainer -- were great fun, if not a bit chilly. Plus, the Wednesday Time Trials have impressed with their ability to improve a rider's speed and stamina so effectively.

First Leg of the RMCC 1-2-3 Challenge Series

Deadhead and I had a heck of a tough little ride on Easter Sunday in the 100K leg of the RMCC 1-2-3 Challenge Series. I'll start with the big numbers first and work my way back. We finished nearly 63 miles in 3:14 total time and 3:09 ride time to average the tiniest fuzz under 20 mph. We finished tied for 6th (we think) out of 30 riders (we think).

Loa – Panguitch

We caught up with Howard a couple miles outside of Loa at the base of another climb, made an exchange, and I took off.  I guess I was hoping to get the climb over with on one pull but it was a longer climb than that.  It was actually about 10 miles of climbing and Howard was riding when we finally reached the top and started the descent.  The cue sheet warned of a turn in the middle of this descent that we didn’t want to miss, so we went ahead to find the t

April is Here! An Overview.

Hey everybody!

We in Northern Colorado are all pretty well covered in wet, heavy white stuff right now, but it's not time to pack it in because the weather forecast says it'll warm up again soon.

The Northern Hypoxian crew has organized and participated in two Time Trial Wednesdays. The weather for the next TTW on April 8 is looking quite promising, so we should be able to get back to some 11.7-mile racing at 6:30 p.m.

Escalante – Loa

It was dark as I rode out of Escalante, but with a clear sky and a full moon it wasn’t hard to see the road.  I knew it would be a while before the crew got Howard’s bike loaded back onto the van and caught up with me, and traffic was practically nonexistent so I enjoyed being out by myself in the moonlight.  A few miles later the van caught up and started following along behind me so I had the headlights to help light up the road.
